CALIBRATION IS ESSENTIAL

The heart of every measurement system is ensuring that the results are correct. Therefore, light measurement systems must be calibrated regularly. This applies to handheld devices as well. All light measurement systems change over time. This is due to physical deterioration, temperature variation, and contamination. Consequently, regular maintenance is essential for realistic uncertainty estimates.

The American National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued an excellent paper on calibration issues and definitions:

recommendations

Viso Systems generally recommends recalibrating sensors every year, or at least every other year.

All Viso Systems products are delivered pre-calibrated. It is also possible to customize the spectrometer calibration if desired.

All Viso solutions have two memory areas where calibration data can be stored. The first memory area contains the factory calibration. Only Viso Systems can edit this area. The second memory area contains a custom calibration, which can be edited by the user as many times as desired. Users can change this as many times as desired.

LEt viso help – VISO CALIBRATION SERVICES

Let Viso Systems help you with your recalibrations. Simply send your sensor or LightSpion briefcase to Copenhagen for recalibration. Remember to include the original reference lamps. Please allow 1-2 weeks for processing, including air freight. Our goal is to minimize your lab downtime! Send your service request directly to Viso headquarters at info@visosystems.com or to your local distributor.

GOOD ADVICE

Make sure to calibrate your system every year, or at least every other year.

Before sending your LabSensor, BaseSensor, or LightSpion to Viso System, locate all original reference lamps, such as REF-800, CALI-T50, and CALI-DT300. We will recharacterize the reference lamp(s) with your newly calibrated sensor to ensure they are compatible moving forward.

DO YOUR own calibrations

Viso Systems’ measurement systems can be recalibrated using the CALI-T50 or CALI-DT300 reference light sources. Alternatively, you may use a recalibration lamp of your own choosing. The CALI accessory is included in LabSpion.

All CALI-T50/ CALI-DT300 light sources are traceable to Viso’s calibration lamp (Oriel lamp 7-3110, characterized by PTB, German National Metrology Institute, 40004-23-PTB, ILAC members as NIST).

Important: Calibrations must be performed in a dark environment with non-reflective surfaces.
