Five Viso measurement systems. Five companies. One shared commitment to lighting excellence
Five companies within the UK-based FW Thorpe Group use Viso measurement systems daily to measure and compare the performance of their professional lighting products. Across the UK and the Netherlands, TRT Lighting, Solite Europe, Lightronics, Thorlux Lighting and Famostar have built a strong network of measurement expertise.
Building expertise across the group
Rob Waters, Technical Director at TRT Lighting, explains how investing in Viso systems has strengthened collaboration: “TRT Lighting got its first LabSpion system in 2020 and another one around two years later. Around the same time, our sister companies Lightronics in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, and Solite in Stockport, UK, also got their LabSpions. “This has enabled us to build internal measurement competencies and strong networks across the group, helping us develop a high level of measurement expertise.”
Support that makes a difference
Reliable technical support is equally important to the teams working with the systems every day. They value having access to both their local Viso representative and Viso headquarters in Copenhagen. “When we need support, we just give them a call,” says Rob Waters. “Having an ongoing and dynamic relationship with our measurement system supplier is ever so important.”
A partnership that keeps growing
In 2025, two more systems were installed: a LabSpion with LabRail at Thorlux Lighting’s new measurement facility, and a BaseSpion at Famostar in the Netherlands. Established in 1936, Thorlux Lighting is the largest and longest-established operating business within the group. Famostar specialises exclusively in premium LED emergency lighting and exit signage. For Viso, the partnership demonstrates the value of more than supplying measurement equipment. It is about supporting customers over time, sharing technical knowledge and helping them build lasting measurement capabilities.
